GPT Reader Studio Privacy Policy

GPT Reader Studio is a Chrome extension that reads selected webpage text aloud, provides Reader Mode and Word Focus reading tools, and includes built-in Pomodoro and task-list features.

What data the extension accesses

• Website content selected by the user: when you highlight text or run Reader Mode, the extension accesses that text so it can read it aloud or display reading overlays.
• OpenAI API key: if you choose OpenAI voice mode, you may enter your own OpenAI API key in the extension settings.
• Extension settings and state: the extension stores settings such as selected voice engine, voice, speed, task list data, and Pomodoro timer state.

How data is used

• Selected or extracted webpage text is used only to provide the reading feature, including read-aloud playback, Reader Mode, Word Focus, and spoken-word highlighting.
• The OpenAI API key is used only to authenticate requests to OpenAI when the user chooses OpenAI voice mode.
• Task data, timer state, and reader settings are used only to make the extension function across popup closes and browser restarts.

When data leaves the device

In Browser / system voice mode, read-aloud processing stays on-device using Chrome or system text-to-speech features.

In OpenAI voice mode, the text you choose to read is sent to https://api.openai.com/v1/audio/speech so OpenAI can generate speech audio. Your OpenAI API key is sent with that request as authentication.

GPT Reader Studio does not send selected text, tasks, timer data, or settings to any developer-operated server.

Where data is stored

• Reader settings, including the optional OpenAI API key, are stored in Chrome extension storage using Chrome sync storage.
• Pomodoro timer state, completion alerts, and task list items are stored in Chrome extension storage on the user’s browser profile using local extension storage.

Data sharing

GPT Reader Studio does not sell personal data and does not transfer user data to third parties except as needed to provide the requested feature. The only third-party transfer performed by the extension is to OpenAI when the user explicitly enables OpenAI voice mode.

Analytics and tracking

GPT Reader Studio does not use analytics, advertising trackers, or third-party telemetry services.

User control

• You can use Browser / system voice mode without any OpenAI account.
• You can remove the OpenAI API key from the extension settings at any time.
• You can clear extension data through Chrome’s extension management and browser storage controls.

Remote code

GPT Reader Studio does not load or execute remote code. All extension JavaScript shipped to users is packaged with the extension itself.
